Due to recent deaths from opioid overdose, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has received formalized training on how to administer Naloxone/Narcan. Some of our deputies had receive this training last year but came back as a refresher course. One of those deputies used the Narcan supplied to him last year to save an overdose victim’s life earlier this week.

To train 100 deputies, we started class at 7am and didn’t finish until after 6pm. Each deputy that attended the course received two doses of Naloxone/Narcan.

Opioids unfortunately are in our community so our deputies must stay prepared in potentially reversing an opioid overdose. We want to thank Steve Junker for coming to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office to train us!
