Q: How do I contact the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in an emergency?

A: Our Dispatch and Patrol Division work 24/7/365 taking calls from the community. Our Administration and Criminal Investigations Division work Mon-Fri From 8am – 5pm. Admin and CID are not available to the public outside these hours or on County Holidays.

Q: How do I file a Complaint?

A: To file a Complaint:
Under the direction of the Sheriff of Johnson County, the Internal Affairs Unit is supervised by Chief Deputy James Saulter.
This unit provides protection to the public with regard to improper police actions, and protection to the Johnson County
Sheriff’s Office and its employees against unwarranted accusations of misconduct. Internal Affairs exists to safeguard the
high degree of integrity required to provide quality law enforcement services to the community and to maintain a high level
of public trust.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is committed to delivering the highest level of public safety services possible to our
citizens and to our visitors of our community. Employees, both sworn and non-sworn personnel, are carefully selected and
given the best training possible in order to provide this service. However, you may have occasion to lodge a complaint about
the actions of a member of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. In order to be responsive to you we are providing information
about how complaints should be made, how they are investigated, and their results.

A person desiring to make a complaint may contact any on-duty police supervisor.

Citizens desiring to make a complaint must understand the importance of submitting their complaint in writing with their
signature affixed. The Texas Government Code, Section 614.022, provides that all complaints to be considered on law
enforcement officers must be in writing and signed by the person making the complaint. Persons complaining orally, or by
email, will be requested to submit their complaint in writing with their signature affixed if the complaint is on a law
enforcement officer.

A person refusing to make a written complaint or who makes an anonymous complaint does not necessarily prevent an
investigation from being initiated on the facts provided, but does cause the matter to be more difficult to process to an
effective conclusion.

A complaint should be made in a timely manner after the incident so that the details are readily available to the
investigator. The Texas Government Code, Section 614.022, provides that disciplinary action may not be taken against an
officer unless the complaint is investigated and there is evidence to prove the allegation of misconduct.
Investigators will conduct a thorough investigation of your complaint and you will be notified of the disposition. The Johnson
County Sheriff’s Office does not investigate complaints concerning traffic citations or criminal charges when an
individual’s guilt or innocence is the only issue in question. These cases will go through the appropriate court for
disposition.

Q: How do I Compliment one of your Deputies?

A: To file a Compliment:
If you would like to compliment a member of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, please email it to the Johnson County
Sheriff’s Office or call and speak to any of the supervisors. Compliments, and the name of the individual who gave the
compliment, will be released to the Agency Member. These compliments may be placed in the Agency Members personnel
file and relayed to the member’s supervisor, and can reflect in promotional assessments and performance
evaluation. Everyone appreciates a compliment. You can email the compliment to sheriff@johnsoncountytx.org or call

Q: How can I obtain a copy of a police or accident report?

A: Reports can be requested through the Records Division. You may submit a request in person at the Sheriff’s Office during business hours or by filing an Open Records Request online. Please note that fees may apply for copies.

Q: How do I find out if someone is in the Johnson County Jail?

A: The Inmate Roster is available online and updated regularly. You can also contact the Corrections Division 817-556-6000 for information regarding custody status, charges, or visitation.

A: Call 911 for emergencies or our non-emergency line for non-urgent matters. You may also submit an anonymous tip through our Crime Stoppers program if you wish to remain anonymous.

Q: How do I pay for a citation?

A: All citations MUST be handled at the precinct in which they were written. You may contact the court in question which should be located at the bottom of your citation.
